There willl enough food for the foresseable future. The problem is, and will be prices. Nothing will become cheaper if things continue to go down this road.

I dont understand technology at all. So your predictions or forecasting in that area are way over my head.

But I sense that all things point towards skyrocketing prices - for everything.

Nothing changes people faster than suddenly being broke. Lots of changes will happen. I’m trying to stay hopeful that some might be good for people and that we all can make the best of it. I also realize that many people will be angry and bitter - lots of desperation. That equals - violence.

Semiconductors are the pillar of modern civilization. Any disruption or shift towards a one sided deal affects everything. Chips will play a larger role on society, together with AI in the near future. In this regard it is more future oriented forecast.

But yes, that is the brunt of it, everything will increase in price, supply of everything lowering, thus more inflation, thus more people going broke.

This more societal polarization.

How much security risk is that both the biggest chip company nvidia and amd run by chinese at the top. Not even mentioning that they are relatives...

😆 that doesn't matter for the "experts" but I think in Nvidia cases it's businesses interests keep them in line. AMD is really behind them, and they refuse to invest to catch up

What happens if we run out? What does that even mean? For the average person living in the US, I mean? I assume that they won't let that happen?

Sky rocketing prices for almost everything, and massive food deserts, and deserts of other kind, because logistics is fueled by diesel, literally. It won't run out, but the US might resupply the SPR at a higher price, so... more money printing... more inflation.

It is the "death by a thousand cuts" rather than a critical development. The famous "slowly, but surely".

that makes sense. I think it's confusing when people talk about "running out" to laypeople not in know about O&G. I know Biden has cut drilling of course. Gas prices have risen here in the southeast compared to when trump was in office, but I also remember fluctuation periods since I've been driving (about 15 or so years). Food prices are INSANE, and we supplement from our garden more than most. Unsure how many folks are affording it, we are making changes to our budget and we are probably considered upper middle class? "It will only get worse". The decline is still not obvious to many, still asleep at the wheel.
